The Department of Marine Engineering is also one of the Departments created at the inception of the Academy. It provides training for marine engineering cadets to equip and make them capable of starting a career as Marine Engineers at the watch – keeping level initially and then as Marine Chief Engineer Officers who are able to work on ocean going vessels of any nationality and engine capacity. Marine engineering Department has many Laboratories and Workshops for the training of Cadets, namely:
The Department runs a National Diploma programme in Marine Engineering presently.
Applicant must possess the senior secondary school examination certificate or its equivalent with credit passes in at least five (5) subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics. Physics and any other two subjects from Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Biology, Agricultural Science obtained in not more than two sittings.
